lick o’ paint

By far the best working bee I’ve ever attended at the Parwan church happened today.
Good weather, good company, good hard work, good food, good conversation, good results.
Have a look for yourself:

Combined worship at Pentland Hills

We had another enjoyable and encouraging day up at Pentland Hills on Sunday. The congregation hosted a combined worship with the Ballan Uniting Church congregation. We started in the hall at 12.30 with lunch, after which I gave a presentation on my trip to the island and faith community of Iona. Then Sally and I co-led worship in the church.

Yet again I heard from the people how encouraging it is to meet with other people of faith beyond our own regular community. In fact, the Pentland Hills community have taken on regular sharing of worship as one of our goals for the next year.

Prayers in the Paddock

This initiative in the Highlands Cluster that Sally is ministering with may tweak your interest…

Prayers in the Paddock
July 24th, 2007
Saturday 1st September 11:00-4:00
Little Hampton Uniting Church

Little Hampton Uniting Church, which sits nestled in a paddock in the central Highlands between Daylesford and Trentham, is offering space to pause, to be still, to pray and to listen

You are invited to come and make pilgrimage. Sit in silence, record your prayers, gaze out to the rolling hills, light a candle, stay for 5 minutes or 2 hours.

For those who want to stay on and combine this contemplation with a yarn, there will be a bonfire out the back.

Local spuds cooked in the fire will be available, as well as tea and coffee, soup and sandwiches.

The Moderator’s Coming

St. Andrew’s is pleased to host the Moderator of the Synod of Victoria and Tasmania, Rev. Jason Kioa as our guest preacher at 9.30am on Sunday 5th August. Jason will also be staying around after the service to have an early lunch and answer questions in a forum in the Hall.

Everyone is welcome to join us at worship and/or afterwards.

Personalise it?

I’ve been increasingly aware of the lack of article activity on this site lately, and I must offer an apology, since there has been plenty going on in the parish.

I’m also wrestling with what form the regular updates might take, because the sites I visit and read regularly are generally made up of one person posting stuff, and I don’t want this parish website to be all about my perception of what’s going on… I’ll continue to wrestle.

In the mean time, note a couple of changes to your regularly scheduled programme:

Children’s Church is moving from 11.00am to 4.30pm!
Yes it’s still on the third Sunday of the month, but now it’s in the afternoon. Most parents I’ve talked with are already saying this is a good idea, so we’ll see how it suits people in practice. Next month’s gathering is on the 19th August.

Contemplative worship has found a time slot at 4.00pm on the 4th Sunday.
4th at 4 is the key to remembering that one. Last month we walked the labyrinth, and I’m thinking that we’ll do that next month as well (weather permitting). That would be on the 26th August.
Then we might look at having an indoor service using song and chant and candles etc on the 23rd September.
